The North American XP-82 Twin Mustang, registration N877XP, is an exceptionally rare and historically significant aircraft, functioning as the first prototype Twin Mustang to fly. This particular airframe, serial number 44-83887, is the only currently flyable P-82 in the entire world, making it a true centerpiece for any collector or enthusiast. It has undergone a monumental, zero-time restoration by master warbird restorer Tom Reilly, completed in 2019, bringing it back to pristine, award-winning condition. Since its restoration, N877XP has accumulated only 25 flight hours. It is a multiple award winner, notably receiving the 2019 EAA Airventure Grand Champion Warbird, Phoenix Award, and two Golden Wrench Awards, as well as the 2019 EAA Sun N Fun - Grand Champion Warbird Award. The aircraft is equipped with full dual controls and is powered by two Packard Merlin V-1650 engines, one right-hand turning (-23) and one left-hand turning (-25), each with 25 hours SMOH by Vintage V-12s, driving custom MT 4-blade propellers. Its avionics package includes modern Garmin systems, blending historical authenticity with contemporary flight safety. The exterior is finished in bare metal with authentic Stars and Bars, as flown in 1944, while the interior is restored to its stock original configuration. Right hand seat can perform all flight functions with the exception of Landing Gear Up, Aileron Trim, Primary Radio, Start and Prime Switches.
