The Grumman G-73 Mallard is a classic amphibious aircraft, renowned for its versatility and robust design, allowing it to operate from both land and water. Manufactured in 1950, this fixed-wing multi-engine aircraft is an iconic symbol of aviation history, featuring a distinctive high-wing configuration and twin reciprocating engines. With a seating capacity for up to 12 occupants, including the pilot, and a maximum takeoff weight between 12,500 and 19,999 lbs, it offers a blend of performance and utility for its era. It's often utilized for private transport, charter services, and excursions, particularly in regions with access to bodies of water. This specific Grumman Mallard, N54GZ, has undergone extensive restoration, including a complete dismantling and rebuilding of the wing center section and a full rewire in 2006, returning to service in 2010. It boasts a refreshed corporate interior, new paint, and upgraded avionics, making it a well-equipped and maintained example of its type. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney R1340 series radial engines, each producing approximately 600 horsepower, it achieves cruising speeds around 165 mph. Its robust airframe, coupled with modern modifications like Cleveland wheels and brakes, 50-gallon wing float fuel tanks, and a comprehensive Garmin avionics suite, ensures both safety and comfort for its operations. RESTORATION Aircraft underwent a complete restoration by Victoria Air Maintenance, BC, Canada between 2006-2010. Aircraft completely disassembled for full refurbishment of structure members, alclad skins, fabric coverings, wiring, electrical, hydraulic, fuel systems, fire suppression, plumbing and hoses, complete corrosion removal and re-painting of complete aircraft. Numerous STCs applied, electrical and avionics upgrades and modifications applied. Structural modifications and an LSTC applied. Modification reports and 337 forms completed to reflect current configuration. Both engines overhauled, both propellers overhauled. All remaining components were repaired, overhauled or replaced with new or serviceable units as deemed necessary. Wing center section corrosion. Wing center Section is a complete new build including all new fuel bladders. C/W by AMOC approval #AARDG 2008/A42. Refer to ICA 2yr or 500hr requiring inspections and 5300hr O/H life. Aircraft deregistered from ND C-GGMZ and re-registered in the USA as N54GZ.
