About Scheibe Aircraft - Scheibe SF-25C Falke
The Scheibe SF-25 Falke, with its SF-25C variant being a modern iteration, is a renowned German touring motor glider. Developed from the successful Bergfalke glider, it features a distinctive high-wing design, comfortable side-by-side seating for two, and often a fixed tricycle landing gear. This versatile aircraft can be powered by various engines, with recent models commonly using reliable Rotax 912 series engines, offering robust performance for both powered flight and soaring. Its design emphasizes ease of handling and fuel efficiency, making it highly popular for both flight training and recreational cross-country flying. First flown in its original SF-25A form in May 1963, the Falke series has seen extensive production with over 1,200 units built and has been widely license-built by companies such as Sportavia-Putzer and Slingsby (producing the T61 Falke/Venture). The SF-25C, equipped with an alternator and electric starter, represents a refined version of the design. Performance characteristics include a maximum speed of 190 km/h (100 knots) and a cruising speed of 180 km/h (97 knots), offering a range of approximately 700 km. With an impressive glide ratio of 23-24, it excels in its dual role as a powered aircraft and a sailplane, providing a unique and efficient flying experience.
